Combat Academy Fighter Dan "2 Fast" Tyas stepped in at last minute to challenge Lincoln Kickboxings knockout artist Roman Sikorski for the ISKA English Kickboxing Title.
With only 2 days notice and five kilogram to lose in order to make the light middleweight limit of 71kg it was a tall order for Dan but he met the challenge in impressive style – going on to emerge victorious in an exciting, action packed battle that was more than worthy of its English Championship status.
The 5 round contest featured thrills and spills throughout with Tyas dominating the contest with his unique combination of speed and skill and Sikorski remaining ever dangerous as he showed flashes of his vaunted power whenever he landed clean - cutting Tyas above both eyes in the process.
Combat academy Head Coach Mick Crossland said that Dan gave his best performance yet, outpointing and outclassing his more experienced opponent and stunning him for an 8 count in the fourth after a big left hook . Crossland said “Dan had been working hard already for a fight a couple of weeks from now that ended up falling through, so we knew he was in good shape and that despite his lack of experience at this level, he had the talent to handle it.
"So when the opportunity came we jumped at it. Dan put all his training into practice and produced a sublime display of skill and guile that did us all proud."
Dan now looks forward to his next outing when he will be fighting K1 rules on the action packed Fight Zone 5 at House Bar & Club in Barnsley on Sunday June 16th. Anyone interested in tickets for this event please contact Mick Crossland on 07714133995.
