Owen Deakin is a martial artist of the highest order with a host of accomplishments and a growing body of experience to his name. Owen has studied Martial Arts with The Combat Academy since 2013 and continues to learn, grow and improve his craft. His accomplishments in that time include;

Owen is also studying towards various sports, health & fitness related qualifications to supplement his learning in order to help him to continue to develop as a coach.

Owen is an excellent coach and blends his assertive style with humour and encouragement to bring the best out in students. He is very supportive of all members and is particularly good at helping younger members build confidence and older students develop technique and skills.

Love this place my three children go for training there and parents can go free for training. Absolute Sound discipline and leadership. The best part is the instructors remember each child by their name! That means a lot. Best decision Ever.

Some places teach martial arts. The Combat Academy teaches people how to believe in themselves.

The coaches don't just focus on technique—they invest in every person, building confidence, discipline, resilience and respect, regardless of age or ability. Every session pushes you to improve, but you're never made to feel judged. Instead, you're encouraged, supported and celebrated.
What makes The Combat Academy truly special isn't just the world-class coaching or the incredible facilities—it's the community. Complete strangers become training partners, training partners become friends, and before long it feels like one big family. The positive atmosphere is infectious, and everyone wants to see each other succeed.
Whether you're looking to get fitter, improve your mental wellbeing, learn self-defence, or simply challenge yourself, this is the place to do it. Joining The Combat Academy has been one of the best decisions I've made, and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Five stars simply don't seem enough.

I am reviewing Barnsley as the marketing team signed me up in the Sleaford business and organised all the contracts payments etc. Trying to cancel a membership here is stupidly hard.. I emailed March 2026 to cancel 1 of the 2 memberships I paid due to injury, totally accept the 60 day clause. Why 6 months later they continue to take money, ignore all emails, phone calls is a mystery. My bank are struggling to prevent it as they do not set up a direct debit they take your card details. This is purely a review of the money grabbing and no care for members who do not want to pay over £70 a month anymore. Shame because the instruction is not the issue, but on principle I don't want these people to have another penny from me.
